Leather

We had our third anniversary two weeks ago! Yay!
The third is the "leather" anniversary and I was thoroughly stumped as what to do until three days before. We should test drive a nice car with leather seats!

Jared mentioned our plan to his boss and he offered his car: a black ... Jag. :)

We left little Gavyn with our friends, the Walsers, and went to an Italian restaurant called Maggiano's for dinner. They even had leather seats. :)

We asked the waiter to take our picture, but we were in such a hurry to get back to Gavyn, we didn't check that the camera wasn't on AutoFocus. So we only have this blurry picture of us.

We stopped to fill up the car, and finally figured out how to open the gas door, Jared went to select the gas and realized we didn't know what kind to put in. We called his boss and he wouldn't tell us; he said he never fills it up, "It runs on love."

RASPBERRIES!!

A Memorial Day to Remember

WOW! What a weekend!
We had an impromptu trip to Colorado that was just delightful. Matthew went through the temple to prepare to leave for his mission to Pennsylvania in late June. It was so wonderful to all be able to be there. That doesn't happen often and won't for a couple of years now that Matthew is headed out.

Gavyn got to see his Great Grandma again. Isn't she cute!?

playing Settlers of Catan: a family tradition

And the other big event of the weekend is that Ellen and that boy in the picture (the big one) are engaged! His name is Dane Short and we're so happy for them! So we'll probably see them sooner than we would have for Thanksgiving!

Ethan and Joseph were helping Anna practice the piano for our Sunday concert.

We had an odd number of people playing Catch Phrase so Molly and I worked together. We were so in sync that we decided we might as well complete the look as well!

And Gavyn and I crashed on the couch when we got back.
Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a wonderful trip!

Oh Baby!

I don't really have much new to report about Gavyn this past week. He's still very very cute and so so close to laughing. He slept 9 hours on Saturday night!! We woke up and both asked each other if they'd gotten up with him in the night but neither of us had so we went to check that his little chest was still rising and falling. Good baby!!

I'm convinced Jared has a magical armpit...

I threw a baby shower for my dear friend, Lu Walser this last weekend with the help of another sweet lady in our ward because our apartment probably couldn't have handled it...

She's having a girl mid-late June. These two are actually both pregnant, but Lu is the one on the left... :)
And I made little baby sugar cookies.

Funny story:
I wanted to make spring-ish cookies so I looked all over trying to find some flower or other appropriate cookies cutters, but I couldn't find any in the time I had, so I just pressed on without them...
I found my little stash of cookie cutters and discovered I didn't have a gingerbread lady like I thought I did; just a man and other assorted Christmas shapes like holly and candy canes, along with some different sized hearts. So I just decided to make the gingerbread men into onesied baby girls! I'm so clever...

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Little Gavyn will be three months old tomorrow! I know everyone says this, but he's grown up so fast!He like to talk to us, smiles a lot and he's trying to laugh.
He can roll over all on his own- I had trouble getting the camera up fast enough to take a video before he rolled over!

He holds his head up really well and sometimes I think he is trying to figure out how to roll head-over-feet...

His longest night has been 8 hours. Not bad for such a light-weight.

He is starting to enjoy playing with toys, as well. We've rigged our kitchen table to entertain: a bungee chord across two legs and toys attached with baby-chains. Genius.

And he loves to snuggle.

Walking on Sunshine

Gavyn is in the stroller in front of us...

Sunday lived up to it's name last weekend so we headed with our good friends, the Walsers, to Snowqualmie Falls. I did not expect something so stunning at such an easy distance. It was beautiful! (I'm sure the perfect weather didn't hurt.) We're excited to be able to enjoy the summer more as I won't be feeling sick on a car ride longer than 15 min. Seattle area, here we come!

And I decided to have an adventure in the kitchen yesterday as well. I made kabobs, and no - we didn't get a grill, I just faked it in the oven. Who knew leftover chicken, a fresh pineapple, green peppers and sweet chili sauce, could turn out so delicious!?
